Control

Smart magnetic track lighting, without the overpromise

Smart magnetic track lighting means control on top of the movable-head idea: switching, dimming and colour temperature from an app, a remote or a gateway. Some of Sampo's magnetic fixture categories support WiFi, remote or gateway control, with dimming and CCT adjustment. Not every head does, and the protocol varies by category, so every smart claim on this page is conditional on the specific fixture.

Control routes

Depending on the fixture category, control can come from a WiFi app, a handheld remote or a gateway that ties the track into a wider system.

What to confirm

Which route each fixture on your list supports, and whether you need everything on one app or can live with two.

Dimming and colour temperature

Smart-capable categories can offer dimming and adjustable CCT, so a living room can move from bright and cool to warm and low without changing heads.

What to confirm

Dimming range and CCT range are fixture-level figures. We give them against your list, not as a blanket number.

Track builds

On the high-voltage side, M25 is offered as a smart WiFi variant and as a non-smart EMC variant. M35 is commonly built 4-wire for smart use in commercial rooms.

What to confirm

That the track build and the fixtures match. A smart head on a non-smart run won't behave like a smart system.

When not to go smart

If the room only needs on and off, the non-smart build keeps wiring simple and costs less. That's a perfectly good answer for many rentals, corridors and back-of-house rooms.

What to confirm

Whether anyone will actually use scenes. If not, spend the budget on better fixtures instead.

How we handle a smart enquiry

We start with the fixture list and the control you want, then check each item against the current range. You get back a list that says, head by head, which control route it supports. Anything we can't confirm is marked as unconfirmed rather than quietly assumed.

Where to go next

The voltage decision still comes first. M25 and M35 cover mains-direct tracks, and the 48V family covers low-voltage profiles. The selector helps if you haven't picked yet.

Next step

Send the ceiling, we'll send the system

A plan or a phone photo of the ceiling, the rough run lengths and the voltage you prefer are enough to start. We reply with a suggested series, the profile and the fixture families that fit.
